The weather was absolutely beautiful on Saturday so it made for a wonderful ride to Luling. We stopped on the way and had an awesome lunch in Schulenburg at the Oak Ridge Restaurant and then on to Luling where we stayed at the brand new La Quinta inn. Nice. We rode over to the Luling American Legion Post 177 to partake in their bar-b-que/chili cook off and they had a huge turn out! The place was packed and we got a very warm reception from the Commander and some of the members.
After about an hour or so, Seguin Riders, Jerry Ramirez and his wife Felisa, came to meet us and escorted us on the most beautiful, scenic ride to their Post in Seguin. They were having a Chili cook off, had a huge crowd and yet they rolled out the red carpet for us there! As soon as we entered the building, their DJ introduced us and we were treated with so much respect and warmth the entire time we were there. What an incredible group of people. Definitely a great role model for Legion Rider Chapters to emulate. After tasting some great chili and some libation, they waved good bye to us as we rode back to Luling where we danced the night away and enjoyed $1 beer for the rest of the night, and then stopped for some mexican food before bedding down for the night.
We look forward to our next Saddle Up Saturday on March 25th, when we ride to Blessing and then to the Angleton Post to show some support for them. Hope you can join us!
